Training of Actors in the Field

The approach to nutritional education using the Nutricartes® Method is based on initial training of the users, the establishment of a follow-up plan and a final evaluation of the programme.

This process of training/follow-up/evaluation has to be adapted to the needs of each organisation wishing to adopt this approach.

Training is based on six modules which go more or less into depth, depending on the needs of the organisation.

The 6 modules are :
- 1) To remember or acquire the essential foundations of good nutrition and good overall health ;
- 2) To identify and adopt effective pedagogical methods ;
- 3) To practice using the specific pedagogy needed to use the Nutricartes® tool ;
- 4) To design and implement an evaluation plan ;
- 5) To plan to supervise the set-up of the programme in the field and to make sure data is accumulated for the evaluation ;
- 6) To be a trainer of future trainers on nutrition education.

Trainers (of trainers) are :
- Either members of L’APPEL having expertise in nutrition education using the Nutricartes® method ;
- Or local actors having themselves benefitted from the training for trainers and who are designated by L’APPEL.

Practical terms:
- An agreement which specifies the needs and specific contents is signed between L’APPEL and the organisation.
- The agreement will specify the number of Nutricartes® games provided by L’APPEL at the end of the initial training.
- Financial terms will be included in the appendix of the agreement..

Users in the field may belong to :
- A Southern hemisphere NGO
- A Northern hemisphere NGO intervening in the Southern hemisphere

- A non-profit organisation or a group of non-profit organisations in the Southern hemisphere civil society.
